Secret Language of Colour Cards: My Favorite Color Combo!

Today I drew my favorite color combo. Green and Purple.  While there is an actual "Green" card in the deck, and this one is named "Jade", it's still the same general color combo to me.

I have these cards set up on my dresser, and I just keep looking over at them, because I love the way they look together. The color combination is so pleasing and comforting to me. It feels like home.

As I have been drawing the first card in my readings with this deck to show me what color I would benefit from wearing, I was momentarily stumped when I turned over Jade this morning. Just two days ago, I drew Emerald, and wore my only green shirt (if you don't count my NFL Jets shirts). Not in the mood to wear a team shirt today, I had another idea come to me, inspired by the trees in the card.

Last week, my mom sent me a package and one of the items in it was a beautiful Masha D'yans tee (see image at right). The gorgeous print is featured on both front and back of the shirt, and features a lovely tree, whose trunk coincidentally happens to be a jade color, rather than the usual brown!  (It also has a wee one hidden beneath a umbrella... trees and umbrellas are two of my favorite things.)

I haven't worn the shirt yet, so today's Jade/Tree card inspired the first wearing.

Purple is my favorite color, and has been since I was a little girl.  The card subtitle says "Develop Mental Clarity".  The booklet says that it helps heighten the senses and creates a connection between mind, body and soul. The author provides a brief ritual for lighting a purple candle to clear the mind and release negativity. I'll have to dig around, I'm sure I have a purple candle somewhere around here.

Jade also speaks of releasing negativity, and the subtitle of that cards is "Take Action", so I shall certainly work on that today. Off to go look for that purple candle...

Secret Language of Colour Cards: Spontaneous Fun

These were yesterday's cards which I didn't have time to post.

The first card, Azure, guided me to the color I would wear for the day. I selected a nice and comfy blue tee (which has a bird on it, so it reminded me of the sky in this card) and a  pair of blue jeans. I carried a blue agate stone in my pocket and wore a blue stone necklace.

The Tangerine card didn't come into play until evening time. This card recommends being spontaneous and having fun. I had tried a new cookie recipe yesterday and was making notes in the cookbook... I asked the kids to look on the calendar for me, so I could note the date. The 28th!  I remembered that was the date that the blood donation bus would be in our neighborhood next. I looked at the clock and it was already 6:30 p.m.  Oh, I was so bummed that I had missed it.  I went to my room to look for the notes I had jotted down about the time the bus would be there. They are usually gone by 6 or 7 in the evening.

I was thrilled to see that I had written down that they would be there until 9pm!  What luck!!  The bus would be parked in a shopping center about a half mile from our house.  I asked the kids if they wanted to walk it.  It was still light out, but when we returned, it would likely be dark. Would they like that adventure?  They were all up for it.  So we walked there, I donated blood, and our Tangerine moment was walking home at 9pm in the dark.  They enjoyed the thrill of it.  As we walked, we sang a song that my daughter made up a few months ago, about walking around in the dark and being scared.

I love the feeling of being outdoors at night time, and I remember being outside at night a lot as a kid, when the world was a different place. My cousins and I used to spend hours with our friends, chasing fireflies and playing Hide-and-Seek and Ghost-in-the-Graveyard all hours of the night, freely exploring the blocks surrounding our houses.  My kids haven't had the same liberties, as they are only outside at night if we are going someplace in a car. I wouldn't dream of letting them play outside after dark. So last night was definitely a spontaneous moment of fun for both my kids and myself!

Secret Language of Colour Cards: Emerald and White

I'm going to continue reading these cards the way I did yesterday, pulling the first card to recommend a color I should wear for the day, and a second card for contemplation.

The first card I drew today was Emerald, and luckily I had just the top to wear! I also took out my Emerald stone and am carrying it in my pocket today for extra emerald energy. My daughter pulled this same card yesterday when she was feeling upset about something. I gave her my Emerald to hold, and then she followed the directions in the book's passage, and it helped lift her mood and she returned to her natural happiness.

The second card I drew this morning was White. This was pefectly timed, as I have in the past few days been visualizing at night, a bright white healing light restoring people I know to their natural states of health, love and prosperity. I've imagined this light of love dissolving any negativity or worry they might be carrying. I have been imagining this for the people I love, starting with myself and my children, and moving onto my other family members. Then I apply it to all the neighbors on my block (nice and nasty alike), and all the people who are negative forces in my life. So when I fall asleep, it is with thoughts of love and healing and blessings for everyone in my life.

This White card says "It's time to lighten up." It's a card of healing, purification and clearing toxicity so that you can feel the lightness of life. And this is how I feel when I finish my white-heart visualization at night. This card tells me that I am on the right path with this new practice of mine. And I shall continue it for as long as it feels good to do so!

(From what I see on my monitor, my scanner has done something wonky to the Emerald card, making it look a bit faded and adding faint distortions to it. My scanner also did not do justice to the color of the Coral card the other day. So keep in mind that the cards are much more vibrant, deep and clear than they appear on my blog.)

Secret Language of Colour Cards: Brilliant Synchronicity!

Today I drew three cards. I had intended on only drawing two cards, but I felt a strong calling to draw a third, and for good reason! I drew the cards before getting dressed in the morning, as I wanted the first card to tell me what color to incorporate in my outfit today.  The second card was to be a message for me, and the third card happened to be a synchronous message.

Coral: This is the card I drew to tell me what color to wear today. I was a bit nervous after pulling it, as I didn't think I owned any coral colored clothing. But I went through my shirts, holding the card up to the drab assortment of dark colors, and spotted a match in one of my favorite shirts. A gorgeous Alice in Wonderland v-neck tee. Great!

Rainbow: The second card was supposed to be a message for me, and I smiled when I saw it, as it was a repeat from the card I drew yesterday. And yes, it's true, I didn't follow through with the message yesterday, so it's come back to remind me.  So I wasted no time and got out my Froud Faerie decks. I drew a card from each deck and the message just leaped out at me, loud and clear. It pertained to something I am living right now, and it was a message that reinforced this truth, and one that I really enjoyed hearing.

Brilliance: So, after drawing the first two cards, I felt a really strong urging to turn over the third card, not knowing why. When I turned it over, I was amazed. Yesterday a notification arrived from the IRS, rejecting my son's social security number. I couldn't imagine what the problem could be, so I photocopied his card and had it sent in.

Then last night, I dreamt I was proofreading a book for an author, and I noticed that the pages were all out of order. There was a huge chunk of pages that was in the wrong place. I kept flipping back and forth, making internal notes about the incorrect page number placements.  I brought this to the author's attention, and asked what he thought of my work and he said, "Brilliant!"

So this morning, I received notice that the tax guy had entered the number of my son's SSN wrong!  I remembered my dream, about the wrong numbers, and remembered the word in my dream, brilliant. The dream had told me what the problem was, and that it would be easily solved.  So when I turned over this card, it was really amazing. Brilliance.

Then, as I was reading to my kids this morning from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I read this line: "And suddenly, on came the lights and the whole tunnel was brilliantly lit up..."

And now, returning to the first card I drew, Coral, the message is of synchronicity, which certainly abounds in my life today!

Secret Language of Colour Cards: Rainbow Connection!

I have a few new decks to share on the blog, but the one I just received in the mail today jumped out at me and had me immediately enchanted, so I had to share it first. It's The Secret Language of Colour Cards.

After shuffling the deck, for my first reading with it, I asked the cards, "What color do I need more of in my life right now?"  And I had to laugh at the answer. All of them!! Rainbow. Funny! As I was looking through the booklet, reading about all the ways we can incorporate color into our lives, I realized that I really don't eat or wear enough varying colors. I really should expand the colors in my world. And this card confirms that I need a greater variety in my life!

The Rainbow card is about connecting with nature and the fae world. Before I drew this card, I spent about an hour outside, reading. After breakfast, as I settled down with a book, I felt a strong urge to be outside and breathe fresh air. So I took my book outside and felt much more at ease. So I was feeling this card's energy before the mail lady even delivered this deck today!

As far as the faeries go, it is true that I have been disconnected with them for awhile. It seems they are reaching out to me. I might have a little reunion with one of my Froud decks tonight. The messages I get from them are always entertaining and life-affirming.

About an hour after drawing this Rainbow card, I saw a photo on Facebook. The Empire State Building lit up in rainbow colors, to celebrate New York passing the law which finally makes same-sex marriage legal. I remember living in Manhattan, and loving the lights of the Empire State Building, so I thought about how extremely powerful and awe-inspiring it must have felt to be there and look up from the street and see those rainbow lights on the iconic building.

Of course, this image immediately reminded me of the card I drew today. And I thought, maybe the question I asked wasn't so much what I, alone, needed more of in my life, but what the whole world could use more of.  It was a great day of victory for humankind in New York, and it needs to serve as inspiration and a beacon of guiding light for the rest of the world's behind-the-times lawmakers.

And of course no rainbow post would be complete without the loveable Kermit singing Rainbow Connection:

Oracle Review: Wheel of Wisdom

The Wheel of Wisdom is a new divination tool created by Orna Ben-Shoshan, the artist who brought us the 72 Names Cards and King Solomon Oracle Cards

The Wheel, measuring approximately 10" in diameter, is comprised of two sturdy, shiny pieces of circular cardboard connected in the center by a metal brad fastener.

(Unfortunately, even after only a limited amount of usage, a small ring has formed in the center on the back where the cardboard has been chipped away from the brad digging in and peeling it off.)

"The front side of the wheel  (The sun mandala) is inspired by ancient karma scripts and gives you 96 answers with clear forecasts to how things are going to evolve.

The reverse side of the wheel (the decorative mandala) contains 36 Angels' Advice that will fortify you with an additional viewpoint on your question and provide additional guidance."

The premise of the Wheel is that you focus on a question, and turn the board around with your hand. There is a small hole on the top circle, which serves as a window to reveal numbers from the bottom board. Once you have landed on a number, you consult the booklet for your message. The advantage here is that one need not study any system for answers. It's as easy as spinning a wheel and looking up the answers. Anyone can use it, and it can be approached by someone of any age, with no divinatory experience necessary.

The artwork is top quality, what you would expect from the artist. Vibrant, clear, colorful, surreal artwork adorns the front side. The back is more muted, with lovely floral patterns.  The numbers revealed on the front are just numbers. But the hole on the back is larger, and along with the Angel numbers, there is also the image of a different Angel's head peeking out with each number, with both male and female represented.

How it Reads
I have had mixed results with the readings I have done for myself with the wheel. More often than I have received accurate, relevant answers, I have received answers that make no sense to my question. To start off, about 95% of the time, I will stop on a space halfway between two numbers. And I never know whether I should nudge it a little to the left, or a little to the right. Many times I will just read both numbers, but as they are frequently completely different responses, it does me no good.

There was a time I asked about letting go of something, and landed squarely on a number. The corresponding passage mentioned "release", so it was definitely relevant. But again, expanding that reading with an Angel message from the back side of the wheel, the passage had nothing to do with the situation.  More often than not, I have found that even when I finally do get to a number, the message is irrelevant to my query.

The booklet states many reasons for receiving confused answers.  Firstly, it's written that you should only consult the wheel when you have a "crucial pressing question".  I have bypassed this stipulation because I wanted to use and review the Wheel, but I haven't had many crucial pressing questions to ask it.  Another reason given for not receiving relevant answers is not relaxing and focusing properly before asking questions. (Guilty!) Or that the future simply does not wish to reveal itself.

So maybe I have just not been focused enough to use the Wheel with much success. Or maybe it's the reality that not every tool will be a match for every reader.

If you are a fan of Orna's artwork, as I am, it is a lovely addition to one's divinatory library. I think I will return to it again in the future, maybe saving it only for those times when I have something of great importance to ask. Perhaps it is meant for me to truly use it for angelic help when absolutely needed.

Deck Review: King Solomon Oracle Cards

King Solomon Oracle Cards is a 36-card oracle deck created by Itzhak Mizrahi, featuring the artwork of  Orna Ben-Shoshan. The deck also comes with four additional "amulet" cards.

The Cards
The cards measure 2 7/8" x 4 5/8" and have a matte finish. The backs of the cards aren't reversible, but are difficult enough to tell top from bottom so as not to interfere with readings with reversals, as this deck is meant to be used. The backs are a light blue with white glyphic writing and a black seal in the center.  The backs of the four amulet cards are blue with stars, and a blank white space for you to write your name in. (More on that later.)

The cards are numbered in the top and bottom diagonal corners of each card, the numbers centered in a star. There are also various symbols on each card, including Solomon Seals containing angel names, Goatic symbols and ancient text witten in angel writing. Unfortunately, the LWB does not offer explanations on the meanings of any of these symbols. This makes the symbols and writings meaningless for those who are unfamiliar with what they mean. Perhaps they are meant to serve as subliminal messages to your intuition?

The four Amulet cards included are not designed to be a part of the reading deck. (See image below for an example of the front and back of an amulet card.)

The amulets are supposed to be kept or carried around with you. According to the creator of the deck, these cards will influence your life with blessings as long as they are in your possession, and you should feel their effect after 21 days. "After 40 days, their sacred power can be sensed quite noticeably.

In order to harness the power of the amulets, you are supposed to write your name and your mother's name in the space given on the back of the card. Each amulet card covers a different area of life: Livelihood, Relationships, Health, Security/Protection.  I myself have not written on any of the cards, nor have I carried any of them on me, so I cannot attest to their effectiveness.

As in the 72 Names Cards, Orna Ben-Shoshan has given us another surreal deck to work with. In fact, there are a couple of crossover cards that I noticed, which appear in both decks. Offhand, without comparing the two side by side, I recognized two (see image at left) from her previous deck.

How it Reads
Orna's fantastic artistry never fails to delight and inspire intuition. The imagery she provides is fantastic fodder for intuitive reading. I'm always able to receive clear readings with her decks, as bizarre and fantastical as the scenes are. There's just something magical that happens when reading with one of Orna's decks. You see things in them that make perfect sense, and they have an uncanny ability to mirror what's going on in your life so miraculously. (You can see some of the readings I've done with this deck here.) It's really quite something to experience!

Little White Book
The LWB is 46 pages and begins with a brief introduction into the deck, followed by information on the amulet cards. Next is a section on working with the oracle cards, giving general information on conducting readings. The bulk of the LWB is dedicated to the meanings of each card, and ends with a couple pages on spreads. There is a single card spread, a 3-card spread, a 4-card spread, and a suggestion for pulling a clarification card. Lastly, there are brief bios on the creator and illustrator of the cards.

The meanings in the LWB given for the cards include keywords and key phrases for the Situation, Advice, and Inverted (reversed) meanings. The cards are designed to be used with reversals, although I don't use them.

Final Thoughts
I definitely recommed this little gem of a deck for anyone interested in an oracle deck that will fuel your intuition and bring a bit of magical synchronicity into your readings.

See below for more images from The "King Solomon Oracle Cards" deck.

Eeek!!! Another DOOR Synchronicity!

Okay. This post will only make sense to you if you've read my previous post about the synchronicity about Doors I've had lately.  So read that one first, if you haven't already.

I was just looking at the list of decks I've used on my blog. The Bartschi Lenormand caught my eye, as I haven't used it in awhile. So I clicked on the link that would take me to all posts containing that deck (here). The very first post that came up (from nearly two years ago) talked about DOORWAYS. The word was even in bold font!

I wrote about how I had a dream about foxes, and was led to the Animal-Wise Tarot to research the symbolism. The passage about foxes referred to doorways, and in the dream I had about the foxes I was standing in a doorway!! (Also synchronous since I just consulted the Animal-Wise Tarot book two days ago. And both times, I wasn't even using that deck!)

And get this! At the bottom of the post, I included a photo of a fortune cookie paper I had opened just the day before: "Opportunity will soon knock. When it does, answer the door!"

And in today's post, I wrote about doors meaning opportunity.

And in that Lenormand post, I talk about synchronicity!

It doesn't get any more synchronous than this today! Love, love, love it!

King Solomon Cards & Crone Stones: The Doors

Synchronicity abounds with the first card I drew today. But before I go into that, I'll talk about the second card. What I saw in this was someone blind to their surroundings. Intentionally so, as he seems to be frolicking about. He has a party hat covering his face, and the flowers are mere outlines, not really there. There is also just an outline of a figure attempting to embrace this guy, with outlines of little amoeba type shapes on the ground, above his head and around his neck. Nothing is as it seems. Whatever is happening here, he doesn't want to see it. He's perfectly content to go on his merry way.

This reminded me of work I am currently doing, ignoring "reality" and substituting what I "see" with what I want to see. Creating a new reality, and denying what my senses are telling me is the "truth" but really is nothing but a reflection of beliefs I previously held.

Looking the card up in the LWB, I see it's a card of health. Good health, improved energy, optimisim. A vivacious person. Reversed, it symbolizes ill health. I now see the aboeba rings in the card as red blood cells.

The card on the left indicates opening doors, breakthroughs, opportunities, monetary success, new beginnings, positive change, removal of obstacles, etc.

So pairing these two together, it's a message that having a healthy, optimistic state of mind, and refusing to accept what is in the present as a permanent situation, will lead straight to the opening of wonderful doors of opportunity.

Now. I have to go into the synchronicity of this Door card. A couple weeks ago, I started seeing signs of Doors everywhere. It started one night when I was watching the movie Flicka with my daughters. In one scene, the teenage boy in the movie was wearing t-shirt with "The Doors" printed on it (the band). I thought it was bizarre that I would notice that detail, as usually I'm not that minutely observant. After the movie ended, the girls went straight to sleep, and I went straight to my computer to watch an old episode of Dexter on Netflix. In this episode, Dexter's mother was wearing a t-shirt with "The Doors" on it. What?!?  What are the odds of that... less than an hour apart, that I would see two shirts featuring the same 60's band on them?  I knew then that the word "doors" had significance for me, but I didn't know what it meant.

The next morning, as I looked at my bedroom door, I thought about it. I was just about to open my mouth to tell my son about the coincidence, when he asked me something about the door. My jaw dropped and I told him I was JUST about to talk to him about doors! So I told him the story.

The next day, he asked me to look up a video for him on YouTube.  A song he wanted to download to his iPod, from the movie Ice Age. (Rusted Root's "Send Me On My Way".) So we watched it together, and about 30 seconds into the video was a DOOR, in the middle of nowhere, connected to nothing. A boy later walks through the door. Just like the card I drew today! A door. In the middle of nowhere.

But wait, there's more!

So when I saw this door in the card today, I grabbed my Crone Stones to ask: "What is UP with all these door references?!" (I'll be using the Crone Stones next week with a new tarot deck, so I had them handy.) I was going to pull only one stone, but something made me draw two. And wouldn't you know it... both stones mention doors in the book! I'm not making this stuff up, folks.

So, according to the King Solomon card, the door indicates a successful breakthrough, a new beginning. Which makes sense. You open a door and you walk through it into a new place. That's the nature of a door.

Here's what the Crone Stones have to say about it. (Since my question was about doors, I will only include here the bits in the book that reference doors.)

Wheel:  The Wheel shows us the passing of time. Cardea, Roman Goddess of hinges, is a protectress of doorways. She presides over each spoke that represents a celebration of the eight major holidays of the year: eight hinges. The ancients believed that at these holidays the worlds were at their closest. Hence, there is a doorway at every hinge.

Dragon: The dragon is our true wild woman self that must be recognized. No happiness will be realized, no yearning quenched, until she is invited through your front door. She is the forger of pathways, for to recognize her, we need to knock down a lot of walls. To be in touch with our inner dragon we need to open what was shut. If you receive the Dragon stone, it means the dragon has come knocking.
How incredible is that?  That I asked the stones a question about doors, and I'm drawn to the two stones that mention doors. Amazing.

The passage about the Dragon about "knocking down walls" reminded me of the solitary doors without walls I saw in the video, and in the oracle card today. Restrictions and limitations that I need to destroy, perhaps? And the bit about "opening what was shut" tells me that new opportunities will become available to me once I do this.

The passage about the Wheel tells me that the timing is now right, but won't always be. The doors are opening for me right now, and I need to take advantage of it while I can.

I'm a huge fan of synchronicity, and I love the magic it brings to my life, so I am thoroughly enjoying all of this.  (But I think if Monsters, Inc. were to come on spontaneously, I might have an aneurysm.)

King Solomon Cards: Cosmic Financial Boost

This is the third time this week (!) that this card (on the left) has appeared for me.   Divine assistance. That's what I have come to know this card as.

And the card it appears with today indicates wealth. That's what I intuited from the card, as I associate a plethora of oranges as a symbol of financial abundance. Checking the LWB confirmed that this card means earning money and accumulating wealth.

So pairing these two together, I believe it to mean that I will be receiving divine/angelic/cosmic help in the area of my finances.  This ties in nicely with the playing card reading I posted to my other blog last night (here).

So far this week, this deck has been spot on for me. So I'll take that as a good sign for today's lucky draw!

I'm really enjoying the repeating cards this week. It's a great way to get better acquainted with a new set of cards.  Reminds me of the enlightening experiences I enjoyed with the repeaters in the Oracle of Shadows and Light.

King Solomon Cards: An Angelic Message on my Doorstep

Today's cards blew me away.  This morning I was out on the porch doing something quite out of the ordinary (will explain in a bit). When I came inside, I changed gears and decided to pull my daily cards.

I didn't really have a question in mind, but I was thinking about how I had asked the angels for help recently and wanted them to show me a sign. Just a sign that they had heard me and were working on it. Something I would surely recognize.

The cards told me, in no uncertain terms, that they had just left me such a message!

The first thing I noticed about the cards was the abundance of the color blue. Then I saw the angel in the first card dangling a blue stone. Yesterday I carried a light blue Angelite stone in my pocket all day, to connect me with the angels!  This card shows me that the angels recognized this, and one of them is dropping something down for me. The card on the right shows one woman looking up toward the angelic realm, and another woman noticing something down on the blue ground, that came from up above. Something the angels had dropped on the ground as a sign for her to know they were there.

So what was I doing outside this morning, right before drawing these cards?

There was a blue bird wing left on our porch this morning. In over two years that I've lived in this house, this has never happened before. It was undoubtedly left on our doorstep by one of the neighborhood cats or raccoons we often see in our yard.  A bluejay wing. Something that came from up above. Now, of course I wasn't jumping up and down for joy, as my kids and I felt bad for the bird. But it was a rather amazing sign. And a wing... of all parts of the body that could have been left behind, it was the wing... the thing it shares in common with angels!

I turned to my Animal-Wise Tarot companion book, and the bluejay is the Two of Winged Ones (Swords). When my son discovered the bird, it was upside down. It wasn't until he turned it over that we saw the blue feathers.  So I read the reversed meaning for the card. Imagine my surprise when the very first sentence contained the word "dangling" which brought me right back the the first card I drew today, with the angel dangling a stone on a string!
"If reversed, Blue Jay is a reminder to follow through on what we have set in motion rather than leaving something dangling that will come back to haunt us. The reversed Blue Jay signals a need to make our choices. ... The blue jay, like all birds, helps us move between earth and heaven and can open up new realms and new expressions of our power and abilities."
The 'earth and heaven' bit definitely made me think of the angels.  It's apparent to me now that they are definitely working on my behalf. The oracle cards reflected the exact sign they had left me this morning. And following the trail of signs, the Animal-Wise Tarot says the blue jay is a message that my energies are scattered. I  need to make firm decisions and follow them through. I will definitely take that message to heart.

A Reading With My Blog's 3 Most Featured Decks

I found myself wondering today which decks I've featured the most on this blog over the years. I knew the deck in the #1 slot would be my favorite deck, the Tarot of the Magical Forest. And it was, by a landslide. Here are the top three decks that I've used on the blog:

1. Tarot of the Magical Forest
2. Phantasmagoric Theater Tarot
3. Deviant Moon Tarot

As soon as I saw this list, my first thought was: "All of these decks have an element of creepiness to them.  What does that say about me?"  So I thought I'd ask them.

Interesting. We have two Swords cards, but not only that, both Swords cards feature thieves. And in the third card, we have someone afraid of thievery.

The Tarot of the Magical Forest card is the Seven of Swords. It shows a cat stealing away quietly with swords in hand.

The Phantasmagoric Theater Tarot card is the Knight of Swords. Tom Tom. "A character who steals toys from those who are weaker than he."

The Deviant Moon Tarot card is the Four of Pentacles. This is the Scrooge card, the miser. The one who clutches onto his belongings for dear life, for fear of losing them. Even when he's about to be thrown into a pit of flames, he seems more concerned about the two thieves behind him getting hold of his coins.

So what does thievery have to do with my question (What does it say about me that my top three go-to decks for the blog have an element of creepiness about them?)? Well, why do people steal? Some steal what they need and can't afford. But I think the majority of thieves enjoy the element of danger involved, whether they realize it or not. The risk of getting caught. The adrenaline boost it must give them. It's ordinary and normal to buy what you need. It's scary-exciting to steal.

So I guess when my life is feeling boring and ordinary and mundane, I unconsciously turn to the decks that will bring me into new realms. Exciting and different. Dangerous, because they stray from the norm, and aren't cookie-cutter RWS tarot.

The creatures in the Tarot of the Magical Forest are cute cuddly animals... but they have big, hypnotizing bug eyes that never blink and that bore into your soul, seeing all of you.

The Phantasmagoric Theater Tarot is a whole different world. A sometimes uncomfortable world. A definitely bizarre and extraordinary and colorful place unlike anything I experience on a daily basis.

The Deviant Moon Tarot is also another world with otherworldly creatures of imagination that make you wonder and explore the hidden areas of your life.

These decks pull me out of my life and expand my horizons. They offer excitement when I'm bored with the same old routine of normal human life. They add a touch of darkness, but it's a positive darkness. A thrilling darkness. An alluring and sensual darkness that reminds me that life can be more than it often seems.

And I have many more decks that fall in the same realm. I guess they are my way of flirting with danger, while keeping me out of trouble in the real world.

Decks: Tarot of the Magical Forest, Phantasmagoric Theater Tarot, and Deviant Moon Tarot.

King Solomon Cards: Help With Moving

Today's cards illustrate help with moving. In the card on the right, I saw migration. Specifically migration to the west, which is where I will be headed. Looking in the LWB later, I read that it does indeed indicate travel, voyages, journeys and relocation. "Changing locations will bring favorable results" is one of the messages. Great!

However. It's going to be a difficult move to make on my own with three kids, three pets and a whole bunch of stuff.  The card on the left indicates "help".  I could certainly use help, but I hate asking for help. It makes me really uncomfortable. I'd rather struggle to do everything myself than ask someone for help.

The first card tells me that I might not need to ask. This is a card that came up for me the other day, so I'm paying extra attention to it since it made a point of  appearing for me a second time.  This card can indicate divine providence. "Unexpected help from an external source".

I pulled these cards last night, for today, before going to sleep. Inspired by the angels in the card, and the term "divine providence", I snuggled into bed and asked my angels for help. It's not something I often do, but when I really need help with something big, it's much easier for me to ask my angels for help than to ask a fellow human. The way this has worked for me in the past is that the angels will put someone in my path who will offer me help without being asked. This is much more comfortable for me, because I know the person is angel-sent, and really wants to help, rather than feeling put out or inconvenienced (or refusing my request for help completely).

So, we shall see what happens!

King Solomon Cards: Sculptorades Synchronicity

I pulled these cards last night, asking what to focus on today. The first card reminded me of a Play-Doh: Fun Factory. Once I saw that, I couldn't see it as anything else. So instead of trying to decipher that code and find the underlying, metaphorical meaning to it, I kept it simple. I should play Plah-Doh with my kids. Easy peasy. Sometimes the meaning is really right there, but the simplicity is overlooked.

Now the second card turned out to be pretty amazing, as I will explain later. I initially saw my three kids in a conga line. My head leads the front, but my body is absent. For the past few days, the kids have been doing their own thing, and I haven't been spending quality family time with them. I've spent one-on-one time with each of them, but we haven't really sat down and done anything all together. So this was an additional nudge to involve everyone in the Play-Doh activity of the day.  What I decided to do was to play Sculptorades* with the Play-Doh.

*Sculptorades: Cranium Family Edition is our favorite game. We love, love, love, love, love it!  (If you haven't played Cranium, you are missing out! There is a "grown up" version as well, if you don't have kids.) In the game, you play charades, hum songs, draw with your eyes closed, sculpt with clay, go searching for household items, answer trivia, do word searches, spell things backwards, and more... there are lettered blocks and jumping plastic frogs that you do stunts with. It's really the most fantastic fun you can have.

So that's where I got the idea for Sculptorades. I decided we'd make each other guess what we were each sculpting with the Plah-Doh. I took out two illustrated books of children't poetry, and when it was someone's turn, they would blindly open one of the books to a page, and picked something from the illustration on that page to sculpt. Everyone else would have to guess what it was. We did several rounds of that, then did a freestyle round. After that, we each read aloud a poem from one of the pages that inspired one of our sculptures.

It was a really fun morning, and I have these cards to thank for that!

Oh, oh, oh! I almost forgot! When it was my youngest daughter's turn to freestyle sculpt, she designed something so outrageous that I was completely amazed that my other daughter actually guessed what it was.  Cats connected in a conga line!  It wasn't until I came to the computer to blog that I remembered the conga line I saw in the second card I drew. Talk about one-in-a-million synchronicity! Love it.

King Solomon Oracle Cards & Wheel of Wisdom: Getting Unstuck

Today I pulled out my King Solomon Oracle Cards, which I haven't worked with since receiving them. I thought I'd pair it with the Wheel of Wisdom, as they are both creations of Orna Ben-Shoshan (whose surreal artwork you may recognize from the 72 Names Cards I've used on the blog before.)

Many of these cards are very busy with detail and surrealism, so my usual 3-card draw seemed a bit too much. Instead, I drew two cards, just to have a connection between the images, rather than just pulling a single card.  Then I turned both sides of the Wheel of Wisdom to get further insight.

The cards I drew were #36 (Support and Assistance/Friends/Divine Providence) and #28 (Delays/Obstructions/Blocks). The two seem to go hand in hand. Someone's in trouble and needs help. The guy on the right is floating upward on his seat, but is held down by a thin mesh net nailed to the ground. Now, this mesh looks dangerously easy to break through, especially given the weight of the person it's holding down.  But nevertheless, it is holding him in place. It sort of reminds me of the self-imposed helplessness of the tarot's Eight of Swords. You certainly can get yourself out of the trap you're in, but you're expecting others to help you out instead.

The card on the left reminded me of the angel on one shoulder and devil on the other. But in this instance, they are both angels. Both wanting to help.  It looks to me like they've come to tell this woman that the man needs help.  Sort of like Lassie's famous "Timmy's fallen into a well" rescue barks.

These cards lead me to the thought that I might be in a situation where I have the ability to help myself, but have been expecting to be rescued from it somehow. I can sit around and wait for the eventual help that will likely come for me... but wouldn't it be more efficient to just rip through the thin mesh (obstacle) myself? It seems my freedom would be more expedient if I handled it myself.  Most of the time when I stall and get stuck in a stagnant place, it's because I don't know what to do. It's not that I have a hard time deciding what I want to do, but rather I don't know how to do what I want to do.

So I'll look to the Wheel of Wisdom for further insight. One side of the Wheel provides forcasts of how things will likely evolve, while the other side offers additional guidance from the angels.

The Wheel of Wisdom number I turned to was #86:
Although you were fortunate and things started on the right foot, you managed to disrupt everything because of erroneous moves.  Now you're stuck in a static situation. Take advantage of the new cessation and re-examine your actions, then try to amend whatever you can.  It may not be too late.
Wow. Pretty amazing that it mentions being stuck in a static situation, just as the guy in the card illustrates.  So yeah, I'm facing a blockage that needs to be addressed.

Then I flipped over the Wheel and turned to Angel # 34:
The situation necessitates arriving at a certain insight. Don't act until you've seen the entire picture. Open yourself up to messages and hints from the outside.
This brings me back to not acting because I don't know what to do. I think I'll set aside some time today to meditate on this, and invite the right path to be shown to me. Oftentimes I overthink something, and from that place I'm unable to see the bigger picture, or receive messages from spirit. I need to clear the way for intuitive insight.

Oracle Review: Mystic Pyramid

I received this fun little gem from US Games last week.  The Mystic Pyramid is the new millennium's version of the classic fortune telling Magic 8 Ball we all enjoyed as kids.  There's no shaking or flipping over required with the Mystic Pyramid. You simply place it on a flat surface, ask your question, and gently press down. Then sit back and watch the magic. The four edges of the pyramid light up (blue), and an omnipotent male voice delivers your answer.

My kids and I have had a lot of fun playing with it. At first we asked reasonable questions.

Q: Is tomorrow going to be a great day?
A: Embrace your bliss.

Q: Will June be extra magical for me?
A: Accept life's gifts with gratitude.

Q: Will we successfully move within two months?
A: Be prepared to be dazzled.

Then we got a little silly:

Q: Will I marry NFL Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez?
A: Things are not going well.  (LOL!!!  Love it!)

Q: Will the Jets win the next Super Bowl?
A: Get ready to celebrate your achievement. (How appropriate!! Will have to update next February!)

But my favorite question so far was asked by my 7 year old daughter:

Q: Will I be lonely with a bunch of cats when I grow up?
A: Happiness is on the horizon. (To which she responded excitedly: "Yay!!! Cause that's my dream!")

There are over 100 programmed responses, with 50 of them being positive messages, according to the US Games website. Which leaves slightly over 50 messages which are negative or neutral. But the negative ones always crack us up, so it's not a downer or anything. Here are a few more sample messages from the Mystic Pyramid:
  • Your hard work is about to pay off.
  • All the elements seem to be in your favor.
  • Dedicate yourself to your greatest goal.
  • More work needs to be done.
  • The outcome has not yet been determined.
  • Seek an answer at a later time.
  • You'll have to wait for answers.
  • The outcome is not what you hope for.
  • It's your turn to celebrate.
  • It's not in the cards.
  • It may not be in the cards.
  • A difficult situation is about to improve.
  • The outcome will surpass your expectations.
  • Your voice of hope has been heard.
  • Major obstacles stand in the way.
  • Nothing is standing in your way.
  • Ill winds are blowing.
  • Revisit the issue at a later time.
  • Embark on a new path with confidence.
  • It will get worse before it gets better.
  • Your difficulties will soon be over.
  • Seize the opportunity at hand.
  • Your fate is still unclear.
  • You will receive all you deserve.
  • The outcome is doubtful.

There is no on/off switch... the pyramid conveniently turns itself off when not in use.  It requires 3 AA batteries, which are included.

The Mystic Pyramid has been a big hit in our household. Though I'll always have a special place in my nostalgic heart for the classic Magic 8 Ball I adored as a kid, the Mystic Pyramid offers a great many more potential outcomes, and it's pretty groovy that it actually answers you in voice!
