My new mantra "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change" has not left me. In fact, it's what I hear in my head as soon as I wake up every morning now, so I am aware to look at the same old things with new eyes. I say it out loud several times a day. I say it to my kids. My five year old daughter said yesterday, "Oh ya mean if I do this..." (bending over so her head was upside down between her legs) "... then I'll see things differently, and the things will change? You're right! The chandelier is on the floor now!" And that's what I thought of when I saw the Hanged Man this morning. My daughter was literally looking at things from a different perspective, like the Hanged Man. This new mantra I've adopted, paired with the recurring Hanged Man card, go together perfectly.
The Hanged Man is looking to the left. Since there are no cards over there, I don't know what his eyes are physically seeing. But behind him, in his mind are the Nine of Cups and Four of Wands. His dreams coming true and celebrating his new home. This is what he chooses to see now when he views his current reality. If he continues to "see" his desires with his inner eye, then his outer world will eventually form to match his perception.
Seeing what you want to see, rather than perceiving what is, is very difficult. I'm not gonna fool you. It takes a lot of getting used to. But like anything else, I have to assume that it gets easier with time. I'm wearing my Manipulating Reality Training Wheels right now. I can't wait until it becomes second nature to me so that I can help others discover the process. One of the main forces motivating me to master this is my children. I want them to master it themselves before they are adults, so that they don't have to struggle with the concept. I want it to come naturally to them, and it's so much easier to learn these things as a kid, when you don't have years of negative, limiting beliefs behind you to erase.
I see today's cards as my little cheerleading section, cheering me on, encouraging me to keep on keeping on... reminding me that what I see now is only a product of how I looked at things in the past. And with my new perspective, my future reality will reflect my current visions.
