Daily Draw - The Priest and Prince of Swords

Today I drew The Priest and Prince of Swords. As I mentioned yesterday, the Priest has taken on card number II, but retains its traditional meaning of the Hierophant. The Prince of Swords is the Page in this deck.

Though the cards are very different from one another, I saw a similar theme in both of them: thoughtful discipline.

Yesterday I was talking with my kids about their amazing energy levels. I suggested the idea that maybe one day I should do exactly what they do all day, including eating the very same things and doing all the activities that they do. They were so excited at this idea.

When we woke up this morning, my son asked if today was the day. So I thought, "Why not?" I did just fine until around 2 p.m. when I just had to have a few cookies. And it sort of went downhill from there. But I did eat better today, and I was more energetic. I even joined in the kids' pillow fight and had some great laughs! I still have it in mind to make it through a whole day living as my kids do, but today wasn't destined to be the day. The Prince of Swords in this deck is described as the "Birth of a thought", which surely represents my idea, and the Priest shows me how much discipline will be needed to carry out this experiment.

Note: I noticed afterwards that the two glyphs are Autumn and Winter, respectively. I had to laugh at this, as I took it as a reference to my "older" age, compared to my children, and my declining energy levels.

What a great idea! I'm sure my kids would love it if I lived like them for a day, but I'm not sure I could do it either. I think I'd gain about five pounds in one day eating what they eat. (But it sounds like yours eat healthier than you??)

Like you, I find this deck confusing, so perhaps it wasn't the best choice for my daughter, but she loves Manga, as well as Asian culture. The pictures are beautiful and I was hoping they would inspire her artistically. I'm not sure that she's done anything with it, except stick it in her room. I just bought my other daughter the Magical Forest deck for Christmas. Now *I'm* going to have a hard time not opening it until then!

LOL! Yes, my kids eat WAY healthier than I do. Waaaaay!!! They don't eat any junk food, and I have a sweet tooth that won't quit. :)

The Manga deck is a lovely and thoughtful gift for your daughter who loves Manga and Asian culture! At her age, it doesn't really matter that it doesn't follow the "traditional" as long as it speaks to her interests. :)

And wow, I'm impressed at your patience. I could never buy a gift in August and wait to give it until December!! Especially not a tarot deck that I know I'd want to get my hands on at some point as well! LOL!! (But I already knew that your will power is far superior to mine.) :) :) :)

Ha! Same with my daughter. She'd probably choose a banana over a cookie... But me? I'll take TWO cookies, thank you! :) Nette

LOL! Same here. My kids eat fruit while I chow down on the cookies! :)

Nice reminder (which I need constantly) that a person can read even as "big" a card as the HP (or Hierophant) in a more contained "smaller" context when doing a daily draw.

Not sure what day I'll actually OWN that lesson--but I still have, like, 799 of your posts to read, so I may get it by then . . .

Also, with all the role reversals this deck offers, it's almost like your son, as Hierophant/HP is "crowning" you, initiating you, into the discipline of your kids' world.
