Daily Card - Seven of Swords and Ten of Pentacles

This morning as I woke up, I thought about the Ten of Pentacles. Then as I was washing dishes, I thought about it again. It continued to pop into my head here and there throughout my morning. I thought to myself that in addition to the daily card I drew today, I would also take out the Ten of Pentacles and keep it in view throughout my day, as it seemed to be calling to me.

I shuffled for my daily draw, and when I cut the deck, the cards shifted a little to the side, revealing part of the deck below. So I drew the card I cut to (the Seven of Swords), and then I also turned over the card that had been exposed...the Ten of Pentacles! Oh, I don't think I'll ever tire of magical things like these happening with the cards. It gives me such a happy rush!

I thought back to the last time two cards made their way to my daily draw, using the Phantasmagoric Theater Tarot. I remembered that duo also featured the Ten of Pentacles/Coins! That sparked the memory of the time just before that when I drew more than one daily card, using my Tarot of the Animal Lords. I looked back and found that draw only to be reminded that the Ten of Pentacles showed up there too! Seems the Ten of Pentacles in my world really loves company! (Both of these draws were in January of this year. In fact, I drew the Ten of Pentacles as my daily card three times in January, the month that I received a large amount of unexpected money.)

I really like the Seven of Swords in this deck. It focuses more on the harmless flying-solo aspect of the card, rather than the sneaky thievery often depicted. This man appears to be using his intellect to strategize. And while strategy can involve manipulation in the wrong hands, it doesn't appear to me that this man has evil intentions. He looks like a kind man, trying to figure something out. This is precisely what I have planned for today. Last night before I went to bed, I had an idea. And today I need to spend some time figuring out how to make it work.

The swords are set aside, laying and leaning on the table, while the man sits and brainstorms. It's time for thinking and planning, not yet time for action. I was drawn to the fact that he's left handed. This sparked an idea in my head. I feel the need to think outside the box today to approach the idea I had last night from a point of view I wouldn't ordinarily see it. So I am going to use my left hand to do certain things today. This will give me a completely different way of experiencing things that I would normally do automatically, forcing me to slow things down and be more aware and in the moment. This practice will hopefully open my mind to new perspectives and perhaps open the door to a new creative approach to my idea.

And if my strategic planning is successful, I will be met with the Ten of Pentacles. Not too shabby! The man in the Ten of Pentacles has a similar white beard and mustache, with a bit more hair on the top of his head than the man in the Seven of Swords. In the Seven of Swords, perhaps the stress of the pressure has made him lose his hair, which he will regain once his plan is successfully carried out. Though in the Ten of Pentacles, he still has his hand to his head, and his facial expression doesn't appear to be jumping for joy. The work of achieving is never really done. But this doesn't have to be viewed as a negative thing. There will always, always, always be more journey. Reaching one milestone only begins the trek to another. I have to remember to enjoy both the ride and the destination. This means finding pleasure in all the steps along the way... the inspiration, the planning, the action, and the completion.
