This morning I drew The Hermit which features the story of the Sandman. From what I remember, the Sandman sprinkles dust on children’s eyes to help them sleep and dream, guiding them out of reality and into their unconscious minds. This card reminds me that I have detached from my spirituality and have been more focused on (and caught up in) mundane, earthly concerns lately. The Hermit is telling me to return to the practice of listening to my higher self and feeling more in tune with Spirit.I did a Spring reading for myself today using my Celtic Messages oracle deck, and the entire reading confirmed this message, pointing quite adamantly to Spring being a time of spiritual growth for me. Five of the seven cards were directly related to spirituality. And I drew two of the three cards in the deck that take precedence over any other cards. These two cards appearing together intensifies the message of the reading. The first card in the reading was in the position of “A pleasant, unexpected surprise” and I drew a card which symbolizes sanctuary, solitude and spirituality. Taking time alone to look inward in exploration. The same message as the Hermit card I drew today! This reading packed such a punch that I have no choice but to listen and heed its advice.
This is also my Hermit year, so today being the first day of Spring is the perfect time to begin reuniting with that part of myself. I've been feeling itchy and restless lately and now it makes sense why.
After drawing the Sandman, I did a quick search online. I found and downloaded a piano piece titled Sandman by George Winston today, which I will listen to later while meditating. Winston is a favorite of mine, but I don't think I've heard this song yet.
Update: Looking back, I see that I drew this card last month as well, and also on the 20th! Bizarre.
