Daily Card - Page of Cups

In the past few days, I have seen unicorns referenced several times. I don’t know what this means, but as it’s a magical creature, I’ll take it as a good sign. So to honor these messages, I’ll be using my Unicorn Tarot for daily draws this week. I didn’t have this deck for ten minutes before I had my scissors to it, giving it a borderectomy. I’m not exaggerating...as soon as I began looking through the cards, I felt I couldn’t continue until the borders were cut off. The borders on this deck are a black and white pattern of curled unicorn horns.

Today I drew the Page of Cups. When this card represents a person in my life, it’s always my son. But the Page of Cups also represents a new beginning of an emotional or spiritual nature. This has certainly been the case for me lately. I also see this Page as being the gentle spiritual messenger that will lead you to just the right place at the right time.

A few weeks ago, I came across a SARK book online. (Can’t remember where.) I had never heard of SARK before. I thought the book sounded interesting, so I went to Amazon to find an abundance of her books available. Overwhelmed, and not knowing which to choose first, I decided to wait and not order any just yet. In the next couple of weeks, I started seeing SARK mentioned in different places. Again I went to Amazon, and read the glowing reviews. Still, I couldn’t decide on just one to start with.

Last weekend, I went to a couple of thrift stores, looking for books and maybe even a tarot deck. No such luck on the tarot deck. But the second store I went to, I saw a SARK book. For 25 cents! I snatched it up at once, not caring which one it was. I moved further down the aisle, to find three more SARK books! I actually laughed out loud with delight! Then on the next shelf, I found one more. I ended up with five of her books for $1.25. And one of them was even signed. It was unbelievable. To me, that was a Page of Cups moment. Bringing me to just the right place at the right time.

I also find the Page of Cups to serve as a reminder to be aware of the signs around me. If I hadn’t noticed the synchronicity of seeing the SARK books suddenly call to me from different origins, then I might have just passed by those books in the store without noticing them. I think it's no coincidence that this is the first card chosen with this deck, after having unicorns being brought to my attention several times in the past few days!

The page in this card is holding up a cup and rejoicing with a unicorn. There is good news implied here...something to celebrate. I will be mindful today to be aware of subtle signs which may ultimately lead me to a celebratory event.

Note: Though there are a few cards that I really like in this deck, the artwork isn’t really my style, so I don’t often use it. It would have been nice if the unicorns were more integrated in the meanings of the cards. In most of the cards, they are just added as part of the scene. In the accompanying book, “In Search of Unicorns” by Suzanne Star, she tells a cute tale about an enchanted adventure in the land of unicorns and leprechauns. The leprechauns were separated into four communities, with different jobs. The Cup Fairy Folk, the Rods Fairy Folk, etc. I feel it would have been a much more interesting deck if the artwork had complimented the story in the book.

I had never heard of SARK books, either. Now you've made me curious. Maybe now I'll start seeing these books all over the place, too. Isn't it funny when things happen that way.... Actually, have you ever heard of www.paperbackswap.com? I just checked and there are several listed there and I may have to snatch one up! There certainly are a lot of glowing reviews. Let me know what you think when you read them.

I've read three of the books already (one a day...they're quick reads). And one is a set up like a calendar, where you're supposed to read one page a day. The last one I'm in the middle of. I'm reading it more slowly to make it last. They're all very similar, encouraging you to live a colorful life and escape from a mundane existence. They really happened to be just the thing I needed at the right time...it was like a breath of fresh air! The books are entirely hand written in colorful inks and little drawings/paintings throughout, which makes it very unique.

I hadn't heard of that site, no. But sounds cool. Though I'm too lazy to do the postage thing and mail stuff out. Have you done it?
