Ah, you can’t judge a book by its cover. Don’t let the spikes on this King of Cups’ head fool you. He wears his heart out in the open, where everyone can see. On his cheek, his arms, on his teacup, and die.I slept in this morning, which I never do. I was swept in a series of dreams featuring a King of Cups. Not someone I know in real life, but a dream character. I haven’t had a dream like that in a long time. So when I finally got out of bed, and drew the King of Cups, I knew the universe was trying to tell me something….but what?
It most definitely is not alluding to a potential romantic partner, because I am not interested in a relationship. Perhaps it is a call to treat myself the way I would want to be treated by Prince Charming. This is advice I gave someone yesterday, and maybe it’s advice I should take myself as well. In my dream, I was being pampered and adored, and it felt very nice, I must say. I think I will spend some time today thinking of ways I can give a little more attention to me.
The King of Cups is also intuitive, and I have been working more on using my intuition, so his presence today is nice encouragement. I also see it as a head up to pay attention to my dreams at this point in my life, as I feel they are connected to my intuition.
On a more tangible note, I also feel the King of Cups showing up is a sign for me to drink more water. I have been very unusually and uncharacteristically drawn to water lately, craving to go to the beach (I don't like the beach), imagining being on boats (I get seasick), being suddenly curious about water faeries, etc. This sudden water fascination is very strange. Though I am a water sign, I have never been drawn to it. I'm not sure if the water is symbolizing my intuitive path or my body's need for water (or both!). I have barely been drinking any water at all, so today I will be conscious of replenishing my body on a more regular basis.
Next Day Update: I'm going to premise this update by explaining that while I was doing my Angel Oracle readings the other day, I experienced something that had never happened to me with a deck before. I felt noticeably drained of energy and had to re-energize after each reading. The messages from those cards were coming to me very strongly, so at the end of the day after doing six readings with them, I felt emotionally and spiritually exhausted. There was definitely something going on there, something in me that had opened up and connected to spirit like never before.
Yesterday I started reading “How To: Meet & Work With Spirit Guides” by Ted Andrews. I didn’t get past the first chapter, but I feel as though something has crossed over for me. It felt like I had made it official, that I wanted to begin expanding my connection to the spiritual realm on a tangible level.
Then last night, I had two very strange occurrences happen. The first began as I was watching TV. I felt myself eerily mesmerized, unable to stop myself from staring at the TV, while switching the channels non-stop. I asked no one in particular, “Please help me stop doing this, and make me turn this off.” About ten seconds later, my head was filled with a sudden and very strong burst of this feeling that I simply can’t describe in words. The closest I can come to describing it is that it almost felt as though my head was suddenly blown up like a helium balloon...but heavy helium. And that's not something my head was meant to feel like. Everything began to spin, and I was extremely dizzy. I immediately shut off the TV. I felt like I was going to vomit. I laid down and was immediately fine. A few moments later, I sat up, and the nausea, dizziness, and heavy head returned with a punch. I laid back down, and was instantly fine . I did this several times. The only discomfort I felt when I was laying down was a feverish heat. I finally just went to sleep.
I don’t know how much time had passed, but I was suddenly woken up by the loud voice of a young girl. It was quick - a very short phrase or sentence. It wasn’t my daughter. I’m telling you, this didn’t even come close to sounding like her voice. I didn’t recognize the voice, and I didn’t catch what she had said. My cat heard it too, as she started meowing a long meow several times. I knew then that it wasn’t my daughter, because though she sometimes talks in her sleep, the cat had jumped off the bed and was meowing at something that wasn’t on the bed. It was freaky, but I was exhausted, so I just went back to sleep.
I have no earthly idea what these experiences meant. The first one was a clear answer to my request to snap me out of my zombie state, but it was rather harsh! And I don’t know the meaning of the voice that both my cat and I heard. I really wish I had been able to distinguish what the voice had said, but I was too deeply asleep.
So to make a long story even longer, it appears the King of Cups was a sign that my spiritual awareness would be expanding in a big way!

I love the little moments of synchronicity that you are always having. I sometimes think I should try drawing my cards every day, but I like the way my readings work out, too, drawing all of my daily cards at the beginning of the week. There are pros and cons to both ways.
Interesting. Do all the kings in this deck have spikes on their heads? Just wouldn't have expected to see such a thing on the King of Cups, except that kings are Air.
I hope you got your water in today! I always have a hard time drinking enough water. Especially in the winter.
It seems to be the same difficult thing here and in US-to drink enough!*gg*
Have always my problems with it.
Cheril-I found it interesting, that you drew you daily cards all at the beginning of the week.
Maybe I should try this for myself...
Kiki, "to treat yourself as a Charming prince would do"-hey, thats pretty good!I must work on my connotations often I have no idea about my daily cards.
Easier for others, but for myself? Its much more difficult sometimes.
Yesterday I found a test in the www-its about
"What Tarot Card are you?".
Here is the link:

I'm the hermit and that fits well.
I know, Cheryl! The more aware I am, the more synchronicity plays a part in my life. I absolutely love it! It's like little pieces of magic sparkling in my life! :)
I think the way you draw your cards for the week ahead is great! I just like having that routine in the morning, something to do every day. I'd get anxious waiting a whole week to do another draw! And I like the suspense too. LOL!!
No, the kings in the deck don't all have spikes. They're all very different. If you're interested, you can view the entire deck here: http://tarot.com/tarot/decks/index.php?deckID=91
and just click on an image to see it larger.
Ya know, when I read your comment, it was night time, and I had completely forgotten about the water. I leaped up and poured myself like half a gallon of water and downed it. Thanks for that reminder! I don't know how on earth I can get so busy as to forget to drink water. It's so ridiculous!
sylke...Yes, sometimes it's more difficult to be objective when reading your own cards. I find it's easier when you don't try to "think" about what they mean to me, and just let the first feeling that comes to mind be the meaning. That usually seems to work.
I think I did a quiz like that awhile ago and got the Hierophant...and I was like, "Huh!?!?!?" He's one of my LEAST favorite cards in the deck!!! The Hermit, that's a good one...that would have been more my style. I'll have to take it again and see what it says. Thanks for posting the link! :)
I took the quiz and came out High Priestess. I suspect that a lot of tarot readers would come out that.
I had kind of a spiritual experience last night, too, although I may have just been dreaming, and it wasn't as intense and prolonged as yours. I had a dream, part of which I felt very physically, like it actually happened to my body. (I've had these experiences before.) I'll post a dream reading later today when I get a chance!
sylke...I took the quiz and posted the results. I got The Moon. Way better for me than the Hierophant! When I did the Victorian Romantic Tarot quiz, I was the Sun, so that's pretty funny.
cheryl...Ooooh, how cool! I've had those happen too. Those dreams are really neat. (Unless of course it hurts! Though I haven't ever had a painful one.)
@Kiki
"The Moon"?-wonderful, this is one of my favourit cards!
@Cheril
A lot of www.-friends of mine do this test and there be always different results.
But we don't do this twice...possibly there will be another card.
All in all-its just fun, isn't it?
The Moon is one of my favorite cards too! :)
