This week I’ll be using my Fairy Tarot deck. I’ve had issues with this deck, which I spoke about here, but I’ve been inspired to give it a whirl this week. This morning I drew the Ace of Bells (Pentacles). The first thing I was drawn to was the foreign phrase on the ribbon at the bottom of the card. Latin again!? (I really wish I knew the significance of all the Latin popping up in my life lately.) I found the translation for this phrase on this card here:
Discipulus Est Prioris Posterior Dies - Discipline is of the first following after the day. The structure is peculiar: Prioris refers to the first of two things - but it is the genitive case (belonging to the first of two things.) Posterior is the later of two things and is an adjective modifying Dies = day. So I think it means something like - discipline is the first priority at the end of the day. But I am not secure in that. The translation is just as confusing, as I can hear it two different ways. Does it mean that discipline is the “first priority” only at the end of the day, after you’ve lived the rest of the day without it? Or does the phrase “at the end of the day” translate as “when all is said and done”, meaning that discipline is always the first priority? This sounds more likely, as it’s the pentacles suit.
Discipline is necessary for abundance. If you believe that you have to work hard to be prosperous, then discipline is needed for persevering at working hard. If you follow the Law of Attraction, discipline is also required. You must be disciplined in remaining positive and creating the time and energy to do what's needed to draw what you want to you with your vibratory offerings. Both methods can work. But both require dedication and discipline.
And what's the reward for being disciplined in working towards a goal, whichever way you choose to approach it? Well, the rabbit in the card carries a bell like a basket. It’s the Easter Bunny! Coming to bring new treats to one and all! I love it! What a fun way to view the Ace of Pentacles!
This card serves as a reminder for me to continue following the path I'm on, and not to be discouraged when I don't see immediate results. The Ace of Bells is here to tell me that my treats are on their way, if I only believe they are. Because you know, the Easter Bunny only comes to those who believe!
(It's actually funny because I have never done the "Easter Bunny" with my kids, though it's something I celebrated when I was a child.)
Update: How's this for a fun update? This afternoon, my landlord knocked on our door and handed me a bag of Hershey's Kisses for the kids. The Easter Bunny actually arrived at our house today! What a delightful moment!! (Of course, we don't eat dairy, but it was still a pretty magical event after having written about the Easter Bunny delivering treats this morning!)

Oh, I miss the Ator already! :)
I wish I had never done the Easter bunny with my kids. It's one of those things that I'd do differently if I could do it over -- along with homeschooling from the beginning, organic foods, no processed foods or sugar, fewer commercialized toys, etc., etc., etc. It's not useful to wallow in regret, however! Sometimes you appreciate things more when you've lived on the other side.
Cheree...I know, I didn't want to see the Ator go either! I still play with it every day. Just love that little deck!
Did you read the update I posted here, about our Easter Bunny landlord? It was so funny!
Don't even worry yourself about not starting things sooner. I do that sometimes too. Just be grateful that it did come to you at all. Better late than never, right?! :)
I'm so thrilled that you decided to join the bibliomancy exchange!! The group is so much larger than I had expected. I'm very happy you signed up! :)
Oh, I would have missed your update if you hadn't pointed it out. What a sweet occurance (literally)! Do your children get disappointed when they can't eat the Hershey's Kisses? They're probably used to it. Do you do carob (I love carob!) or dark chocolate kisses? (Of course, I know you eat chocolate, but I didn't make the vegan connection.)
Isn't it frustrating when people give you "mainstream" gifts, with the best of intentions? You just have to say thank you, and then throw them out after they've left. Most of the time there's no point in explaining. They'll just think you don't let your kids have anything fun.
Oh, and about the bibliomancy, I tried it a couple of times with one of my collections of Rumi poems just to see what my finger would land on. I was tickled! I don't have the book right here with me, but one of the poems mentioned something about "reading hands" -- right where I pointed my finger -- and then it went on to say, "You don't need a book...." LOL. Ever since I saw the suggestion to use poetry, I've been very excited to try it.
We've already explained to this man that we don't eat dairy, but I don't think he fully "gets" what that means. He enjoys giving the kids treats, so I don't want to ruin that good feeling for him. Now if it were a good friend or family member, we'd have words! :)
Sometimes my kids will be excited when someone gives them a treat, but it's more the excitement of a gift than the actual goodie. Because when I tell them that it's not vegan, then they just shrug it off and walk away. They often ask me, "Why do people give us things with dairy when they know we're vegan?"
I used to like carob as a kid (and I wasn't even vegan or vegetarian then). But when I had it several years ago, I didn't like the taste of it. There's so many options now, of really delicious vegan chocolate, that I haven't felt the need to substitute with carob. (For myself anyway) And my kids don't eat much of anything with sugar. Carob coated nuts/raisins have sugar added, right?
Very cool bibliomancy practice you've had with the poems! Isn't it fun?! :)
Oh, and I saw the Easter Bunny twice last night on TV, completely unrelated to Easter! It was SO bizarre. This week is really chock full of crazy synchronicity for me!
Carob is naturally sweet, so it can be found unsweetened. That's one of the reasons why I love it! I just buy the chips and eat them plain.
